Being a parent can have it struggles, learning to let go, learning to bite your tongue sometimes as they grow older. Learning that your kids need you in different ways. You wonder, if you really did a good job. I know as a mom I have so much more to learn and improve on. . . But yesterday, my 21 year old son Eric (he has gone away to college) gave me the most wonderful gift, he wrote me something from the heart and the tears, they did flow. Reminds me again how blessed I am to be the mom to these six children.

Dear madre
I love you quite a lot
It’s too hard to buy you presents
So I’ve resorted to a poem to fancy your pleasance

For the first time in my life you no longer make me lunches
But that’s okay because I’m still delivered packages with love in bunches
I may not show it much because it’s not in my nature
But I miss warm hugs and kisses; the food you cater

Your children may not show it at times but we know it’s true
Behind all our success is a mom who showers us with “I love you’s”
I’m proud every second to call you my mother
No other woman would do, I couldn’t ask for another

Tonight we went to Isaac's JV Football Banquet, he really was hoping that he would win Most Improved, he did not. But he was so surprised to hear his name called as Co-MVP Offensive Lineman. He worked hard didn't complain, and had a hard job playing center. What a joy it was watching his face!

Last night my son Oliver played his last high school football game, they lost in the first round of playoffs. But more importantly he played, he started all 4 years of football, freshman, JV and Varsity. He was an offensive lineman, one of the players that doesn't get the glory, but can get all the blame. Nothing happens on offensive unless your line does its job. Oliver did his job very well, he and his friend Eric could open up big holes when they put them together on the line.

He supported his younger brother Isaac on the JV team and encourages him to be better than he was.

I hurt for him when he lost, I cheered for him when he won, PROUD of him no matter what.

Last night when we got home he gave me a big hug and said "Thank you mom for always being there and supporting me"

Man, I love that kid.

On this day in 1975, a young man came and sat next to me at a football game, we were 15. So much happened in those next few weeks to us, to those of us who went to Palmdale High School.
He told me he would always be there for me, and he has.

36 years we have known each other, how can that be? We have been married for 30 years and 6 children later. He still makes me smile.

Who says you can't find love at 15 . . .

Recently, I attended the marriage blessing of my very first student'sdaughter. Then a few weeks ago I got to go to a Reunion Tea of some of mystudents. There were 6 couples in the class and 5 of the moms and babies(plus a few older siblings) attended. We had a wonderful time andat one point all 5 of the women were sitting there breastfeeding their littleones (made my heart so proud). Two of these women took my class beforeand returned a second (lucky me!).

Lately, I am reminded how blessed I am to have these families walk in mydoor for the last 23 years. They come in as students, usually leave asfriends, many of them lifelong. I learn so much from each one of myclasses.

Sometimes I wonder when my students walk in my door if they think I am tooold to be doing this, but I guess not.

I just want to thank each and every one of my students for enriching mylife.

It is a great way to get a baby fix!

I love you all.

Last night I took our oldest daughter Alexa down to LAX so she could fly to Washington D.C. for a internship with the L.A. Times. She said "Do you have any CD's in the car to keep you company on the drive home?" She looked around and popped in a Carole King CD. When this song came on, it was hard to fight back the tears.

Alexa, Eric and Oliver have so much change going on. Alexa in D.C., Eric going to ASU and Oliver's senior year.

I am so proud of them and so glad all six are a child of mine. . .

Just a small article our daughter Alexa wrote. When children do amazing things you get to brag about them, but I will give credit where credit is do. She got her gift from her father and then she took it and ran with it!

Last weekend, my husband and I had the pleasure of driving up UC Berkeley to attend a graduation of a wonderful young woman, who just happens to be our oldest child. A few years ago she graduated with her B.A. from UCLA on Father’s Day and now Mother’s Day weekend she graduated with her Masters in Journalism, what a daughter.

We had a wonderful weekend seeing her Masters presentation and meeting her peers and professors. It was nice having some one on one with her. She has accomplished so much and has worked so hard.

I believe as a mom, I can say I am so very proud.

I know I haven't written something for awhile. This journey of motherhood has kept me pretty busy, between volleyball, basketball, piano, etc. As busy as what I am, I really do love it, yes, it does have its moments, but I love it.

My children as late have been making me feel to proud and grateful to be a mother to these six amazing children. A talk, a smile, a hug, a helping hand, being a good sibling, an I love you. What more could someone want from life?

I am feeling just a little sentimental today as it is our second child's 24th birthday. They still melt your heart. . .

Okay, it was my birthday yesterday, and yes, I am getting old . . . But what a wonderful day it was. Lots of friends wishing me happy birthday and then spending the day with my wonderful family.

My three youngest made lasagna for dinner and my youngest daughter made my birthday cake. Had fun watching them as they assembled the lasagna. Had just a few family members and sons’ girlfriends over.

My youngest wrote me two songs on the piano, one of my son's and husband made me a silly video (gosh, I am a sucker for those!), my oldest daughter couldn't make it so she called and read me a poem she wrote, the kicker was tickets to go see U2 with her! I mean how cool is that, that your daughter would want to go to a concert with you! Got some silly gifts and some really nice ones too. But the best was just feeling special and loved by my amazing family.

Yep, a lucky woman am I.
